THE BEAUTY OF ROSES

By Arleen M. Kaptur

For centuries roses have carried a certain mystique. They are a symbol for love, Valentine’s Day, and are used in weddings, and for anniversaries. Their scent is a delicate fragrance that lets a passer-by stop and take notice. Colors vary and several varieties even have two or three shades in one bloom. Roses can be a creamy, delicate white all the way to a velvety, ruby red. Some varieties even have blue, orange, and “pearl”. Mixing varieties and colors adds added delight and beauty to any garden, patio, or outdoor spot.
Putting roses along a pathway or by a door gives visitors an aromatic, beautiful way to enter your home. They will inevitably stop and smell the roses.

Planting and growing roses is discussed in garden books, magazines, and on television shows. What is the best way to have plants that are hardy, and bloom with bouquet value flowers?

Roses grow best in a location that is protected from north and east winds. They do need sun but partial shade does not deter their growth. The soil should be well-drained because one cause of loss of plant is a “swamp” subsoil. The soil itself should be a good blend - not too much sand nor too heavy of a base. Using compost will improve soil quality and should be worked into the soil to distribute it evenly.

The way you first plant your rose bushes is also of paramount importance. The commonest mistake is planting them too high. The crown of your plant should be covered with about 1-1/2 inches of soil. While planting too shallow is a problem so is planting too deep. A happy medium will insure proper plant growth. Fall planting is preferred to spring planting. After the first killing frost, mount soil around the plant for protection.

Rose plants should be pruned before planting and every year. Pruning is best done in early Spring. Follow-up care with careful note of disease or insect infestation will allow you beautiful blooms and healthy plants year after year. If a problem occurs, treat it as quickly as possible. Also deadhead any dead flowers or faded blooms. This gives added strength and vitality to new growth.

A bouquet of roses in varying colors from your very own garden will take their breath away. Their scent will fill your home and their beauty will be noticed by everyone who
has the opportunity to see them. Try growing roses and you will be most pleasantly rewarded.

ENJOY !

Father and Daughters Invent Wearable Fragrance Diffuser

By Anonymous

December 18, Honolulu, Hawaii – Yoji and Sachiko Tsutsumi, a Honolulu father-and-daughter team, have invented and produced a revolutionary fragrance fashion accessory that has been available in the U.S. since Thanksgiving Day.

MiMi Blossoms, a made-in-Japan fragrance diffuser, was born from an idea by the two Tsutsumi sisters, Motoko and Sachiko. Their father, Yoji, put in countless hours of thought and research and finally had the prototype made in Japan for higher quality. MiMi Blossoms, patent pending in nine countries, can be used as earring backings or worn on clothing, handbags, neckties, etc. The product is made of high-quality plastic with a special absorbent inside, and can be used for aromatherapy and avoidance of skin allergies caused by perfume. “We are very excited about MiMi Blossoms,” said Yoji Tsutsumi. “My daughters’ idea has materialized into a product that’s both aesthetic and functional. It can be decorated to suit individual tastes, and it solves the growing problem of skin allergy to fragrances. The launch of MiMi Blossoms is timely because aromatherapy has become very popular and while MiMi Blossoms are portable, users cannot carry conventional fragrance diffusers with them”.

MiMi Blossoms come in six colors and are packaged as deluxe kits, starter kits, and pairs. In addition to a variety of decorative stickers, each kit includes a dropper and a mini-cup that are used to fill the MiMi Blossoms with perfume or aroma oil. The MiMi Blossoms are packed in stackable clear plastic cases that are easy to carry, and the product complements perfumes and aroma oils. Retail prices start from $8.95 for a pair of MiMi Blossoms.

MiMi Blossoms made its first public appearance on November 16 at the Hawaii Foundation for Chinese Culture and Arts’ fundraising luncheon. Two gift baskets containing the product were donated to the foundation’s silent auction.

MiMi Blossoms are distributed in the U.S. exclusively by Ti&Ti Sales and are currently available on Oahu, Hawaii at Shirokiya, Toys ‘n Joys, Neo Plaza, Kiteboarding96815, and online at www.mimicute.com.

Ti&Ti Sales is continually seeking new U.S. retailers to make MiMi Blossoms easily available to consumers both in-store and online. MiMi Blossoms will be showcased at the California Gift Show (booth #2455) in Los Angeles on January 18-21, 2003.

Quality Cologne, Perfume And Fragrances To Enhance Your Sex Appeal

By Mike Yeager

It has been said that a perfume is like gathering an armful of luscious rose pedals at the height of their bloom. The lovely scent, the heavenly fragrance and sensation you feel when surrounded by a quality perfume, fragrance or scent cannot be overstated. There can be a wide variety of ingredients in putting together a fragrance that is both appealing and attracting. Historically these ingredients have been divided between natural and synthetic; that is, between a man made or natural botanical substance. Perfume is meant to reflect and enhance the natural environment around us, which is why many people enjoy the thought of using only "Natural" fragrances and scents.

The best Perfume and fragrances will make your enticing.

In ancient civilizations materials and ingredients were added to oils used to perfume the skin. Today science is able to isolate and remove a pure single aroma from natural materials. As a general rule, the purer and more distilled the material, the more it costs. However, there are many wonderful fragrances you can buy that are both inexpensive and of a high quality.

Unique "Scent-sational" Valentine Gift

By Anonymous

Fairfax, VA (PRWeb) February 13, 2004 -- Dr. Mireille Nedelec, Research Director of the Aromatherapy Center of Fairfax and a native of France--the capitol of perfumery and aromatherapy--will formulate a unique scent for your special loved one. Dr. Nedelec's fragrances can be formulated for men, women, and even for couples!

To begin the process, Dr. Nedelec collects basic information about the recipient to determine the purpose of the perfume and, when possible, the recipient's personal likes and dislikes about scent families. For example, if a person needs to have more confidence to interact in matters of romance, Dr. Nedelec knows exactly which essences to select. “Her trained "nose" allows her to formulate exquisite, totally natural customized fragrances that are perfect for each individual or couple,” according to Clydette Clayton, Director of the Aromatherapy Center. “What's more, using her specific knowledge of plant essences, she can prepare a fragrance to help the recipient overcome fears, anger, frigidity, and even physical weaknesses!”

Dr. Nedelec uses only the finest natural essences blended in a bath of high-quality jojoba oil so that the perfume penetrates the skin easily and at the same time nourishes it. Her formulations use no synthetic products of any kind -- only essences from flowers that have been grown organically or are Ecocert approved. For example, her incredible rose and orange essences are derived from blossoms distilled by steam, not by chemical processes that are harmful to the body.

Developing customized scents for individuals takes time, but the results are exquisite. For $109.95, you will receive a 30-ml [1-oz bottle of a unique perfume made specifically for your loved one, including air express shipping to your door.

Although Valentine's Day is a perfect occasion for introducing your loved one to his or her customized perfume, Dr. Nedelec also makes individualized perfumes for other special occasions and for everyday use. Could there be a more perfect wedding gift than a unique scent crafted specifically to help a bridal couple reach the fullest potential of their relationship?

Dr. Nedelec's individual perfumes come to you with this promise for the future: the recipient will make positive life changes under the influence of powerful plant essences. Once prepared, Dr. Nedelec will keep a record of your signature scent-formula. She can then adjust it accordingly to grow with you when you tell her you are ready!

The Aromatherapy Center, founded in 1986, has offices in Fairfax, VA, and Paris, France. It offers individual treatments, conducts workshops and aromatherapy certification training, and consults with corporations for stress relief and employee wellness. The Center has also developed the line, Perfect-Health Scents™, with over 100 fine aromatherapy products to fragrantly aid in relieving many common health problems such as joint pain and sinusitis.

THE FRAGRANCE FOUNDATION GRANTS AN INTERVIEW

By Anonymous

March 2000
For immediate release

Contact:
Julia Ptasznik, editor
Visual Arts Trends
editor@visualartstrends.com

New York — Annette Green, the president of The Fragrance Foundation since 1961, the woman named one of America’s Most Influential Women by Mirabella magazine, and the recognized international authority and futurist, has talked to the editors of Visual Arts Trends about the fragrance industry’s usage of creative services. The topics discussed ranged from aesthetic criteria to the industry’s preference for large multinational creative firms that can handle accounts on a global scale. Perhaps the most noteworthy trend is the fragrance industry’s creative use of illustration — a discipline which has been stagnating as of late.

The fragrance and cosmetic industries depend on the power of advertising and design in getting their messages across to the public. A true testament to the importance of creative services to these industries is that The Fragrance Foundation recognizes excellence at its annual International ‘FiFi’ Awards, in two pertinent categories: Best Package of the Year and Best Advertising Campaign of the Year (Print, TV, Billboard). In 1999, just these two categories amounted to eighteen awards: six in the United States and 12 in Europe.

The article resulting from the interview offers a comprehensive view of doing creative work for the international fragrance and cosmetic industries. It is presently posted in the “hot markets” section of VisualArtsTrends.com.

About The Fragrance Foundation

The Fragrance Foundation was established in 1949 by six industry leaders affiliated with Elizabeth Arden, Coty, Guerlain, Helena Rubenstein, Chanel and Parfums Weil, to develop educational programs about the importance and pleasures of fragrance for the American public. Today, America is the largest fragrance market in the world and the Fragrance Foundation has become an international source for historic, cultural, scientific and industry related reference materials. Under the direction of its President, Annette Green, since 1961, the Fragrance Foundation, a non-profit, educational arm of the fragrance industry, has been acknowledged for its leadership and futuristic activities. In the early sixties, Ms. Green created the concept of a "wardrobe of fragrances" which, for the first time, clarified the enjoyment and diversity of the fragrance experience in all aspects of every person's life. Currently, the Foundation's International Membership includes: manufacturers, suppliers, media, advertising and public relations agencies as well as designers, packagers and retailers.
